I've been doing this since before most of my clients had a smartphone.
22 years in IT. The first client I helped is still a client today.
That's not a marketing line, it's the only metric I actually care about.
Why Square IT exists
I got into IT through high school. I'd planned to go into accounting, but a computer class changed that. After RMIT I landed work experience at a small consulting firm, got pushed toward Microsoft certification early, and within a few years was largely running a 60-site pharmacy group independently.
The move to go out on my own came gradually. I'd take leave and come back to the same feedback: clients didn't want to deal with anyone else. Eventually I listened.
Square IT has been running for close to 10 years. I started in IT at 18 and I'm nearly 40 now. The client base has grown entirely through word of mouth. That's not an accident.
I got into IT through high school. I'd originally planned to go into accounting, but a computer class changed that. After year 12 I enrolled at RMIT, and within a couple of years I was doing work experience with a small IT consulting firm. They offered me part-time work while I finished my Advanced Diploma. That was the start of it.
They pushed me toward Microsoft certification early on, which turned out to matter more than I realised at the time. Becoming a Microsoft Certified Professional gave me the foundation to eventually join the Microsoft Partner Network when I went out on my own, something that still directly benefits my clients today.
Early on I was working alongside a senior technician on a pharmacy group with over 60 sites. The range was enormous: one day troubleshooting a printer, the next working through VPN connectivity or firewall configuration at head office level. Servers, Exchange, on-premise infrastructure, hands-on across the full stack. Within a couple of years I was largely running that client independently.

Square IT has been running for close to 10 years. I started in IT at 18 and I'm nearly 40 now. The client base has grown entirely through word of mouth. Some of the businesses I look after now I've been looking after since the beginning. That's not an accident. It's the result of working with honesty, not overselling, not overcomplicating, and staying genuinely focused on the problem in front of me. Technical competence matters, but so does being someone people actually want to deal with.
How I Work
Microsoft Certified reflects the technical proficiency to handle virtually any Microsoft 365 scenario. For the rare cases that come down to a platform issue, I have direct access to Microsoft’s premium support tier to get it resolved as quickly as possible.”
